Tribal Tea announces mental health donation recipient: Indigucation

At Tribal Tea Co., we believe that wellness begins with community. Each year, we donate a portion of our profits to an organization making a meaningful impact on mental health in Native communities. It’s our way of giving back, honoring tradition, and supporting the ongoing healing journeys within Indian Country.

In 2023, we proudly donated 10% of our profits to the Winnebago Public Health Department, whose commitment to public wellness and mental health services continues to uplift the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska.

This year, we are honored to announce that the recipient of our 2024 profits will be Indigucation — a youth-centered organization also located on the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska.

“Support like this means everything,” Sandy “Macky” Scott, founder of Indigucation, said. “SweetGrass Trading and Tribal Tea Co.’s donation empowers us to continue providing Indigenous youth with the tools, knowledge, and culturally grounded care they deserve. It’s not just a gift — it’s an investment in healing, identity, and leadership.”

Indigucation provides culturally relevant mental health support and resources to Indigenous communities, empowering families through holistic services, advocacy, and collaboration. Their mission to honor tradition while fostering healing, resilience, and community strength deeply aligns with Tribal Tea Co.’s core values.

Indigucation offers a wide array of services aimed at creating safe, supportive environments for Indigenous youth and adults alike. Their offerings include:

  • Mentorship programs for both youth and adults that provide one-on-one guidance, leadership development, and cultural connection.
  • Youth programming such as afterschool and summer programs, talking circles, and group activities that focus on identity, community, and well-being.
  • Mental health training and workshops for all ages that focus on trauma-informed care, cultural reconnection, and emotional regulation.
  • Communication outreach, which includes awareness campaigns, community events, and educational resources designed to build understanding around mental health and Indigenous perspectives on healing.

“We are proud to support Indigucation as our 2024 recipient,” Adam Bowen, director of Tribal Tea Co., said. “Their focus on youth empowerment and cultural healing represents the kind of change we want to see — and support — in Indian Country.”

Every purchase made with Tribal Tea Co. helps us contribute to this vision. With each cup of tea, our customers are joining a shared mission to elevate Indigenous voices and promote culturally grounded mental health care.
